For the past 30 years, research has shown that children develop best when in a relationship with a responsible adult who provides consistent, responsive and reliable care.

The Institute for Families and Nannies offers an innovative approach to create this enriched caring environment for children by building the parent-nanny relationship. These relationships flourish when parents and nannies learn together and care together.

Quality of care happens when Nannies learn from professionals and from each other on a variety of subjects unique to a Nanny’s work and to their profession.  The Institute’s mission is to create a community of learners and provide a range of training opportunities for Nannies to enhance their knowledge and professionalize their working relationships with families.

The Institute’s mission is to educate, inform and support the relationship between parents and nannies to further the development of young children.

Alyce Desrosiers, LCSW has over 20 year’s experience guiding hundreds of parents through the process to hire and retain the best nanny for their child. Early in her career she recognized that children thrive when parents and nannies provide care in a similar enough way to ensure the child learns to trust those adults caring for him and to understand who she is and how s/he is in the world.

The challenge for most parents is that they have little time to nurture the nanny relationship while also attending to their children, careers and home. Nannies have little time to develop their skills while working, and they have limited professional, collegial support.

Alyce founded TIFFAN to meet these challenges through the provision of education, training, resources, and advocacy for everyone invested in a child's development.
